Tre geniale låter just nu:
Song to Woody
Bob Dylan, 1962
I’m out here a thousand miles from my home,
Walkin’ a road other men have gone down.
I’m seein’ your world of people and things,
Your paupers and peasants and princes and kings.
Hey, hey Woody Guthrie, I wrote you a song
‘Bout a funny ol’ world that’s a-comin’ along.
Seems sick an’ it’s hungry, it’s tired an’ it’s torn,
It looks like it’s a-dyin’ an’ it’s hardly been born.
Hey, Woody Guthrie, but I know that you know
All the things that I’m a-sayin’ an’ a-many times more.
I’m a-singin’ you the song, but I can’t sing enough,
‘Cause there’s not many men that done the things that you’ve done.
Here’s to Cisco an’ Sonny an’ Leadbelly too,
An’ to all the good people that traveled with you.
Here’s to the hearts and the hands of the men
That come with the dust and are gone with the wind.
I’m a-leaving’ tomorrow, but I could leave today,
Somewhere down the road someday.
The very last thing that I’d want to do
Is to say I’ve been hittin’ some hard travelin’ too.
Downtown Train
Tom Waits, 1985
Outside another yellow moon
Has punched a hole in the nighttime, yes
I climb through the window and down to the street
I’m shining like a new dime
The downtown trains are full with all of those Brooklyn girls
They try so hard to break out of their little worlds
Well you wave your hand and they scatter like crows
They have nothing that will ever capture your heart
They’re just thorns without the rose
Be careful of them in the dark
Oh, if I was the one you chose to be your only one
Oh baby can’t you hear me now, can’t you hear me now
Will I see you tonight on a downtown train
Every night it’s just the same, you leave me lonely now
I know your window and I know it’s late
I know your stairs and your doorway
I walk down your street and past your gate
I stand by the light at the four-way
You watch them as they fall, oh baby, they all have heart attacks
They stay at the carnival, but they’ll never win you back
Will I see you tonight on a downtown train
Where every night, every night it’s just the same, oh baby
Will I see you tonight on a downtown train
All of my dreams they fall like rain, oh baby on a downtown train
Will I see you tonight on a downtown train
Where every night, every night it’s just the same, oh baby
Will I see you tonight on a downtown train
All of my dreams just fall like rain, all on a downtown train
All on a downtown train, all on a downtown train
All on a downtown train, a downtown train
Power of the Orange Knickers
Tori Amos, 2005
The power of orange knickers
The power of orange knickers
The power of orange knickers
Under my petty coat
The power of listening to what
You don’t want me to know
Can somebody tell me now who is this terrorist
Those girls that smile kindly then rip your life to pieces?
Can somebody tell me nwo am I alone with this
This little pill in my hand and with this secret kiss
Am I alone in this…
A matter of complication
When you become a twist
For their latest drink
As they’re transitioning
Can somebody tell me now who is this terrorist
This little pill in my hand that keeps the pain laughin’
Can somebody tell me now a way out of this -
That sacred pipe of red stone could blow me out of this kiss
Am I alone in this…
Shame shame time to leave me now
Shame shame you’ve had your fun
Shame shame for letting me think that I would be the one
Can somebody tell me now who is this terrorist
This little pill in my hand or this secret kiss
Am I alone in this kiss
Am I alone in this kiss

Downtown Train er en herlig feelgood låt. Punktum

Rain Dogs er et herlig feelgood-album, som passer til å klirre med ølflasker.

«Rain Dogs» er et vanvittig bra album. Jeg har egentlig alltid vært klar over at det innholdt veldig mange særdeles gode låter, f.eks. ‘Singepore’, ‘Clap Hands’, ‘Jockey Full of Bourbon’, ‘Time’, og ‘Downtown Train’. Obligatorisk i enhver platesamling, iallefall.

Ye!

Hi, I am Audrey from BENTEN Label Tokyo.
I release Petty Booka CDs.
How nice I found their name here.
Yes, they do cover Tom Waits’ HANG DOWN YOUR HEAD.
